I don't agree that it's a must-have, by the way.
Especially if you Boot Camped your Mac.Verdict? Simple, useful, but not ideally designed for your hand. Now I want a typical (larger) mouse or the Magic Trackpad. It's not meant for gaming. Also, it's wireless via Bluetooth.I bought it separately when it came out to replace my old Apple Mouse, and I loved it. Certainly better than the old Apple Mouse, but I wish it had the third and fourth buttons. You have to get used to its design. It's functional, and that's that. I believe my battery draining more and more quickly. Not too ergonomic. There's also the option of Magic Trackpads, which I think I prefer because this mouse wears out.

The Magic Mouse works so well with Mac OSX Lion that the trade off in comfort isn't even an issue, after you get used to it. On the other hand I was positively surprised on how well it worked with OSX's swipes, scrolls, double tapping, etc.Now that I've been using it for a month, and despite still thinking it could be more comfortable (higher profile), I know I wont use my Macbook with any other mouse. It's a mouse with a different shape, so you have to hold it in a different way. In the first day of use, my hand actually hurt, but as I've come to find out, it's all about the way you hold it. I was experiencing lag and the cursor always seemed slightly "out of place".So I finally gave up and bought the Magic Mouse. I initially went with a trusted Logitech mouse (which was, as usual well built and comfortable), but in true Apple tradition: Apple stuff always works better with.other Apple stuff. In fact, I held out on buying it for a long time, because I tried it on a store and hated the way it felt. Added other two finger shortcut to minimize and maximize windows and it is starting to gain point that other mouse (without touch) can't give.įor someone used to Logitech's comfortable high mice profile, the Magic Mouse's "slenderness" isn't exactly easy to get used to. Enabling tap to click and tap to right clic just made this mouse much more silent and flowing for me. But I recently tried it again with BetterTouchTool third party software.

But for me Trackpad was the way to go even if it still have some bluetooth average response time.I would say wait for update or get a Trackpad.EDIT: I always found the magic mouse to be a bit edgy on side.
Most mouse I used have minimal mouse contact with mouse pad to avoid restriction. On the good side, it is a really nice idea to get gestures on a standard mouse and make OSX much more enjoyable. Also the gliding surface under the magic mouse is too big in my taste making it harder to move on my gaming mouse pad. In the end i prefer the Magic Trackpad much more than the Magic Mouse. For me the magic mouse design is too sharp, not tall enough, has not spectacular bluetooth response time. Getting reverse scrolling and horizontal scrolling working on Windows 8 requires a bit of registry modification.

I wish Apple released official drivers and a control panel for Windows 7/8 for the Magic Mouse that are not bundled in with the Bootcamp drivers. The clean multi-touch surface of the Apple Magic Mouse makes scrolling in any direction like butter.Yes, there are multi-touch touch pads for Windows, and they are fine for every day navigation, but if you are drawing diagrams or working on other things that require some extra precision, a mouse beets a touch pad every time. The Apple Magic Mouse is also bluetooth so no need to occupy a USB socket on most notebooks, and has power saving features that put the mouse to sleep when not used.

Not sure if Apple have a patent on the Magic Mouse because that would be the only reason why others have not copied the concept. Not only is it good for Mac OS X users, but it is by far the best mouse to use with Windows 8.I've tried a few of the Microsoft Touch mouses which for some reason still favour vertical scrolling vs.
